ANAEROBE 2000 provides a choice of day trips for delegate families on Tuesday, July 11--tours of the Yorvic Center or the Peak District. For those staying through Thursday, a trip to the Millennium Dome will be offered. Yorvic CenterThe city of York (Yorvik) was once the capital of the North of England after the Viking invasion in 866 AD. The Yorvik center is a journey back into the first millennium at the archeological site of the best preserved Viking Village, thought to be lost since 948 AD. The village has been reconstructed, complete with smells and sounds. You can even make your own Viking coins.While in York you will have time to see the sights in the city that are 2000 years old. You may like to visit York Minster and Castle Howard. Tuesday, July 11, 2000 This day trip leaves Manchester at 9.00 am and returns to Manchester at approximately 6.00 pm. Coach fare and admission to the Viking Village is £20.00. The Peak District -- DerbyshireOn the outskirts of Manchester, The High Peaks run through the center of England with beautiful rolling green hills, breathtaking views of the countryside and picturesque villages.Chatsworth is a beautiful county manor build in 1549 and will be the main focus of the day. The house is open to the public and contains many works of art. It is often used in film and television costume dramas. This trip will take you on a tour of the area and will show you many of the sights. Depending on the weather; if the day is fine, your tour will take you to see a number of beauty spots, including the colorful sites of well dressings; if the weather is inclement, you will take in a few more sheltered venues. The Millennium DomeThe Millennium Dome, in Greenwich near London, is a new venue built to celebrate the new millennium. The Dome houses 14 exhibition zones with the following themes: Work, Learning, Money, Body, Play, Journey, Shared Ground, Living Island, Home Planet, Talk, Faith, Rest, Mind, Self Portrait, and Skyscape.Thursday, July 13, 2000 This is a full-day trip available for those staying on after the conference. National Express is providing extremely reasonable coach fare to the dome for only £30, including entrance fee. The minimum number of people for each tour is 16. Tours must be prepaid in order to secure the bookings. Indicate your tour choices on the reservation form.
